Ladies and Gentlemen,
Due to the respect for the work of candidates and their teachers related to the preparation for the competition, it is very important to us that the 15th edition of the Youth International Cello Competition Kazimierz Wiłkomirski, took place as usual in the concert hall of POSM2. We believe that unless there is a complete ban on cultural events and a ban on moving in the country, the competition should be held live, with certain restrictions, under the sanitary regime.
Taking into account today’s conditions, we would like to conduct the event without the participation of the audience, but with a direct broadcast on the YouTube channel. During the audition, the concert hall will be attended by the jurors, the leading teacher, the parents of the participant and the participant himself with a piano or cello accompanying person.
However, we are, of course, unable to predict the development of the pandemic situation. We will be forced to cancel this year’s edition of the competition if restrictions are introduced in the country that will make it impossible to conduct the event, even in this form.
Due to the high artistic level of the previous competitions and the fact that after the hearing of the preliminary qualifying stage, an equally high level of performance by the participants of this year’s edition is expected, and at the same time due to the fact that a very uneven degree of acoustic and technical quality of the recordings was noticed, most of the jurors did not she agreed to conduct the competition remotely, in the form of auditioning the recordings. As organizers, we share this opinion. We want the result to be unrelated to the quality of the recording, to be adequate and properly motivate young artists to continue working.
